The end of US protection and the future of Ukraine and Europe

Show notes

Transatlantic relations have been under severe strain. The Trump administration’s policy shift on the Ukraine war, peace talks with Russia excluding European partners, the weakening of NATO, and threats of tariffs on European goods have put both the EU and Ukraine under pressure.

In the second episode of our joint series with the wiiw, Europe in a Fragmented World: Geo-economic and Geo-political Dynamics, we will address the following questions: Can Ukraine withstand US pressure? What about the natural minerals deal that the Trump administration is advocating? Can Europe’s economy bear the burden? And will Europe be able to establish an autonomous security architecture?
